Barn Hill Farm at Whaddon provided the venue for the fifth round of Stevenage Schoolboys Club Championship, with the track benefiting from a comprehensive makeover, having been fully graded, and the perfect amount of natural watering on Saturday, by the end of practice the perfect race circuit was ready and waiting.
To clear the last of the sticky surface The Schoolboy 125’s started the days proceedings, and right from the outset it became obvious this would be a two horse race, with Jason Moore and Liam Ruckwood setting a scorching pace, Jason with two race wins ended the day with top honours, and Liam despite a middle race slip still managed a personal best taking second overall. John Jarvis also with a season’s best performance secured third overall.
Kevin Gomm once again proved uncatchable as he took the days first three race win maximum score along with top Expert Plus place. Craig Heslop obviously at home on the hard-pack surface finished in second, with Harry Boxell after holding off group winner Kevin for all but the final lap of race three, securing third.
Simon Steadman finally broke Keith Gillett’s strangle hold on the Expert Senior Group, by out performing him in two out of three races, and taking his first overall win with the club. Keith with two seconds and one race win took second overall. John McAleer finished with all the thirds, three race thirds and third overall.
Ryan Hooks took the Inter 100 class by the scruff of the neck, a classy riding display produced the second three race win maximum score of the day. Ryan Watts with a season’s best performance took second, with Danny Walker third, improving from a first race fifth to take the two final race thirds.
James Miles continues his run of good form, impressively taking top Inter 85 class spot with another super three race win maximum score, Joe Noble and Louis Close monopolised all the remaining top three positions with Joe taking all the seconds and Louis all the thirds.
Tommy Clark made the Junior group his own, three races, three wins and another maximum points haul. Hayden Stevens secured second overall, by virtue of three race seconds, with Harry Cutmore rounding out the top placings with third overall.
Patrick Bebee topped the 65cc Auto group scoring his customary three race win maximum score, with Olivia Avis taking the runner up spot after three race seconds.
Frankie Cutmore continues to improve taking the 50cc auto class overall with a fully deserved three race win maximum score, Harrison Applegate-Firmin with three top three finishes took second overall, with Billy Rance just two points adrift in third.
