Race Report for Mildenhall 07-03-2010
Stevenage Schoolboy Scramble Club kicked off their 2010 Club Championship at the perfectly prepared Motoland U.K. race circuit in Mildenhall. The Club along with all those who attended would like to express their thanks to track owner Cliff, for allowing them to use his venue after a last minute change was necessary due to a drainage problem at their original venue. In a little over 36hrs Cliff managed to prepare the circuit brilliantly for all classes of racing.
First out onto the black sand, the Auto’s found the shortened circuit very much to their liking, and none more so than 50cc rider Leo Shaw, as he powered his way to first overall with two moto wins and a second. Will Mills after a fine first race win secured second on the day, with new to racing Frankie Cutmore taking the final top position in third.
Patrick Bebee took the days first three race win maximum score along with first overall in the 65cc class, with Olivia Avis a very creditable second.
Taylor Hampshire’s clean sweep of all three Junior races gave him the days second maximum score, whilst second placed Harry Cutmore recovered from a race one fourth to take two race seconds. Sam Bebee gave the performance of his life as he stormed to a thoroughly deserved third overall.
The Inter 85 class saw the return to top form of James Miles as he barnstormed his way to a superb three race win maximum score, leaving Joe Noble and Toby Avis to fight out the other two top positions, with Joe managing to pip Toby in all three races he took second and Toby third.
Brad Garrett took the Inter 100 class by the scruff of the neck making his three race maximum score look somewhat comfortable. Adam Day monopolised all three race seconds and Jac Atkinson all three thirds to finish in second and third respectively.
Aaron Wakefield proved uncatchable as he took the Expert Plus overall win with a three race maximum Score. Craig Heslop carried his good Winter Series form through to the championship taking second on the day, with Cameron Harris finally producing a good result in sand only two points adrift in third.
Closest group of the day by far was the Expert Senior class, as the top three places were separated by just four points. John McAleer found out that consistency pays dividends, as his three race seconds gave him the days top spot, Lee Chipperfield after a race one win secured second overall ,with Keith Gillett having to recover from a race one sixth to win the final two motos to hang on to third on the day.
Carl Grantham marked his return to the club after a long absence with a fine Open Adult group win, Danny Kidd with three top three finishes took second with James Holt rounding out the top positions in third.
Sam Mitchell showed the rest of the Inter 125 Group a clean pair of heels as he secured the days final three race win maximum score. Jason Moore took second, comfortably monopolising all three race seconds, with Gavin Jakeman similarly taking third by finishing all three races in third.
